Things I wish QGIS would do

  • Make it easier and maybe even the default (when appropriate) to make a divergent color scale center around 0 or a user-defined center value
  • Make geometric calculations use the project’s CRS or even better, let the user choose which unit to use
  • Output semantically awesome SVG (layers! proper text!) for use in Inkscape or Illustrator. This would catapult it to the stars in terms of attractivity for journalists, designers and other less nerdy folk.

QGIS plugins I wish existed

  • Generate small multiples neatly arranged in composer for all classes of a layer
  • create and switch to custom crs that is ‘perfect’ for current extents
  • Create sexy great circle lines between point pairs
